No seriously. She used to tell me that her biggest fear was me dropping out of college to become a tattoo artist.
In high school I was obsessed with art. But I always viewed it as a hobby. So When it came time to pick a career, it never crossed my mind. Fast forward six years, I'm working as an Engineer, and my life felt empty. After being laid off thanks to the pandemic, I decided to change my career, and now I have an Art degree and an obsession with my work that I just cant shake!
When I came back to art, I fell in love all over again. I started experimenting with new mediums. Digital, oil paint, charcoal, glass blowing, blacksmithing. If it was artistic, I wanted to try my hand at it. But it wasn't until I took my brother to get a tattoo in the summer of '22 that I realized there was an art form that I loved, but had NEVER considered trying.
I intended to only tattoo practice skins, just to learn the art form. But when a friend of mine heard about what I was doing, he DEMANDED I tattoo him. I made him wait until I had at LEAST researched proper sanitation and protection methods, but holding him off longer than that was nigh impossible. That D20 that says "It could be worse" was my first tattoo ever. After he posted it on Instagram, more and more of my friends started showing up asking for one. since then I have done multiple a month, for over 2 years. Only on close friends and family who are informed and aware of the risks, but I have a growing waitlist of clients who want my art.
Its been over two years since I started tattooing, and I have no intention of stopping! I've tried to get an apprenticeship at a shop many times, but I've been told time and time again that its not free, or that you can't just start tattooing. So Instead I've taught myself. I started with certifications, BBP, CPR, and first aid. Then, through reaching out on social media and visiting local shops, I've made friends with several professional artists who have been a major help in progressing my skills! Now, its high time I make this official. if you are a shop owner or artist in the Miami area and are looking for an artist (or know someone who is), look no further!
For everyone else, head over to my client waitlist and let me know what you would like from me! I do all the design work myself, and pride myself on clear and good communication with clients, so you'll hear from me soon! For now, I can only tattoo family and close friends for legal reasons. But I will message you as soon as that changes, or I'm happy to create designs for you to bring elsewhere if you just like my style!
